Services — Lux AutoHause

Transmission
Service.

DSG, ZF, automatic, and manual. Proper fluid specification and thorough diagnosis before any major transmission work is recommended. We don't recommend a rebuild until we know one is actually needed.

Diagnose before
you recommend.

Transmission problems are frequently misdiagnosed and unnecessarily escalated. A harsh shift or a hesitation on throttle often comes down to fluid condition, an adaptation reset, or a sensor — not a full rebuild. We diagnose before we recommend. If a rebuild or replacement is the actual answer, we'll tell you that clearly and back it up with data. If it isn't, we won't sell you one.

Transmission service — proper equipment, proper procedure

DSG & Dual-Clutch
Volkswagen and Audi DSG and S Tronic transmissions are precision units that require proper fluid specification and adaptation resets after service to shift correctly. The DSG7 (DQ200) dry-clutch and DSG6 (DQ250) wet-clutch transmissions have different service requirements and failure modes. We service both properly, including mechatronic unit inspection and clutch adaptation procedures.
ZF Automatic
The ZF 8HP is one of the most widely used automatic transmissions in European vehicles — found in BMW, Audi, Jaguar, Land Rover, and others. Its service requires a pan removal and filter replacement, not just a drain-and-fill. We perform the full service to ZF specification, including torque converter inspection when shift quality indicates it's warranted.
Manual Transmission
Manual transmission service is straightforward when it's done to spec. Fluid type matters — most European manual gearboxes require a specific gear oil, and using the wrong viscosity accelerates synchro wear. We also service clutch hydraulics, inspect for throw-out bearing wear, and advise on clutch condition as part of any manual transmission inspection.
Fluid & Filter Service
Transmission fluid is the most commonly deferred service item on European vehicles — and one of the most consequential. ZF 8-speed transmissions require a fluid and filter service by 80,000 miles. Volkswagen and Audi DSG units require fluid service at 40,000-mile intervals. Mercedes 7G-Tronic fluid is not lifetime. We use the correct OEM-spec fluid for each platform — not a universal alternative.

The right fluid.
The right interval.

The transmission is one of the most expensive components on the vehicle. Recommending a rebuild before ruling out a fluid service, a sensor, or an adaptation issue is not a diagnosis — it's an upsell. We use factory diagnostic software to read transmission module data, live shift timing, clutch engagement parameters, and fault history before any repair is recommended. If a rebuild is genuinely needed, you'll understand why before you approve the work.
